Meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs to link Child Survivors with reintegration services through NRM

.

A high-level follow-up meeting was held in March 2026 with senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to discuss pathways for linking child survivors of sex trafficking to reintegration services through the NRM framework.

The meeting focused on reviewing the current structure and operational modalities of the National Referral Mechanism, assessing the feasibility of incorporating children living in street situations and survivors of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) and Child Sex Trafficking (CST) within the NRM, and clarifying the roles and responsibilities of relevant government and non-government stakeholders in ensuring effective referral and reintegration support.

It was agreed that children living in street situations, as well as survivors of CSEC and CST, will be formally included within the scope of the National Referral Mechanism. Furthermore, the Ministry committed to ensuring that these vulnerable groups receive dedicated reintegration support alongside existing services provided to trafficking survivors.

The program was implemented by INCIDIN Bangladesh with the support of The Freedom Fund
